Fort Bend Junior Service League Awards Nearly $7,000 Grant to Texana Center for Advancement
(SUGARLAND, TX.) — Fort Bend Junior Service League (FBJSL) awarded Texana Center for Advancement a $6,800 grant that will benefit Texana clients.
Thanks to the support of community partners like FBJSL, this funding will allow the Center for Advancement to award scholarships to eligible clients with autism and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities, who need financial support.
“I want to thank the Fort Bend Junior Service League for their generous grant to fund classes for teens and young adults with autism and intellectual disabilities to help them in their future,” Kate Johnson-Patagoc, Director of Specialized Services said.
The Center for Advancement is dedicated to helping the communities it serves; by offering skills training classes so every client can be a productive member of society.
When the client enrolls in the course, they will receive skills training in an area of their interest. They can participate in computer classes, and art classes and enjoy interacting with others with similar interests. Texana’s certified and licensed staff members offer additional programs to prepare individuals for engagement in the workplace. This can help clients develop better social skills, safety skills, life-enhancing skills and opportunities to explore different career paths.
At the Center for Advancement, employees are committed to providing equal opportunities that will allow the organization and the clients to succeed long-term.
“These programs open doors to meaningful employment, foster independence, enhance self-sufficiency, and ultimately lead to a richer, more fulfilling life,” Johnson-Patagoc said. “Thanks to the Fort Bend Junior Service League, many individuals who couldn’t otherwise afford these classes will now have the opportunity to participate, creating a long-lasting impact on their lives.”
